Pokémon Pokopia revolves around real-time gameplay with no option to time travel quickly in-game, meaning that if it’s nighttime on a Tuesday where you are, it’ll also be nighttime on a Tuesday in your Pokopia town.
Some tasks are also completed in real-time, such as growing crops and building Pokémon Centers, but what if you don’t want to wait? That’s where the ability to time travel comes in clutch. In this guide, we explain whether you can time travel in Pokopia, how to time travel, and the consequences of time travelling.

Can you time travel in Pokémon Pokopia?
While there’s no way of time travelling in-game in Pokopia (meaning you’re restricted to playing during the day and/or time period your region is currently in), you can override this by adjusting the Nintendo Switch 2’s internal clock in your system settings.
By doing this, you’ll be able to play Pokopia on any day and during any time of day. You can even use time travelling to access events early or speed up building projects. Maybe you just don’t want to wait for your crops to grow…
Below, we explain exactly how to time travel in Pokopia.
How to time travel in Pokémon Pokopia
To time travel in Pokopia, first make sure that your game is fully closed. Then do the following:
- Open Settings on your Switch 2.
- Scroll down and select ‘System’.
- Scroll down and select ‘Date and Time’.
- Toggle ‘Synchronise Clock via Internet’ off.
- Select ‘Date and Time’ then input the date and/or time of day that you wish to time travel to.
- Open Pokopia and you will have successfully time travelled.
Now, are there going to be consequences for your time travelling actions in Pokopia?
Consequences of time travelling in Pokémon Pokopia
While time travelling in Pokopia and games like it may be shunned by some players in the community, there’s no explicit consequences for doing so. Unlike Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you also don’t need to worry about weeds growing or Pokémon moving out of your town.
The things that time travelling does impact that you ought to be aware of are as follows (and most of these, notably, are positive things):
- Any crops you’ve planted will mature after time-travelling.
- Any building or demolition projects you have going on will be completed.
- You may access limited-time events earlier than usual, such as the More Spores for Hoppip event.
- Perhaps the only setback when time travelling is if you time travel back to the present; shop items and Daily Challenges from the day you last time travelled to will remain present and will not reset.
