Pokémon Pokopia Brighten things up! walkthrough

‘Brighten things up!’ is one of the Important Requests you need to complete in Bleak Beach in Pokémon Pokopia.

This Important Requests begins after Trubbish asks for help finding the source of the mysterious noise. Turns out it’s Mosslax who’s fast asleep! Professor Tangrowth wants to wake him up and the only answer to that is making Bleak Beach brighter.

Our ‘Brighten things up’ walkthrough for Pokémon Pokopia will show you how to achieve this. (Be prepared to make a lot of Utility Poles…)

The ‘Brighten things up!’ Important Request starts shortly once you’ve finished the initial tutorial about how to use Pokémon with the Generate Specialty to power items like streetlamps. Afterwards, you’ll find Trubbish standing near the Pokémon Center and it will want to investigate the source of the strange noises in Bleak Beach. This will lead you to Mosslax (though you might have found it already) and, after bringing Professor Tangrowth to the sleeping Pokémon, ‘Brighten things up!’ will begin.

It’s important to note that one part of obtaining the required 100 Bloom Points is lighting the streetlamps using Pokémon with the Generate Speciality. If you find yourself roadblocked in the Important Request at any time, then it’s a good idea to go around town with a Pokémon with Generate and light some lamps up. I highly recommend doing this either before or at the beginning of the Important Request to save yourself some time.

Don’t forget – you might find yourself completing some of the tasks below in a different order to me. You will need to complete them all though.

Here’s how to complete the ‘Brighten things up!’ Important Request in Pokopia:

  1. Talk to Meowth and have a Pokémon with the Generate Speciality light more streetlamps. Though you may have already met the requirements for this request.
  • I highly recommend taking the time now to light as many streetlights as possible since this will prevent any roadblocks later on with this Important Request.
  • Talk to Professor Tangrowth and interact with Mosslax.
  • Talk to Torchic and make the ‘Resort Meal Prep’ habitat. This habitat requires one Large Palm Tree, one Seat (Any), one Plated Food and one Campfire (Lit).
  • Return and talk to Professor Tangrowth.
  • Go to the small island west of Mosslax’s location. It’s easy to find as the other Pokémon are heading there too!
  • Talk to Peakychu.
  • Return to Mosslax’s cave and talk to Peakychu. (It may take a while for it to arrive. Someone likes walking slowly.)
  • Make a Shell Lamp, which requires one Seashell and one Sea Glass Fragment. Then place it on the wall of Mosslax’s cave and have a Pokémon with the Generate Speciality light it up.
  • Talk to Peakychu and follow it to the generator (the Windmill) on the beach.
    • Connect the Windmill to the other Utility Poles by making another Utility Pole or by taking one from another part of Bleak Beach.
    • I recommend making Utility Poles as you’ll need more later. Utility Poles can be made in batches of five at the cost of two Iron Ore and two Stone. The recipe for Utility Poles can be found by picking up the Yellow Poké Ball near the Furnace in the southern part of Bleak Beach.
    • Talk to Peakychu again.
    • Connect a Harbor Streelight to the Windmill by either moving one or by placing more Utility Poles.
  • Talk to Mareep and make it the ‘Overgrowth Vending Machine’ habitat. This requires four Yellow Tall Grass and one Vending Machine (Working).
    • I recommend doing so at the vending machine near Mosslax’s cave.
    • You will need to move Mareep to this habitat to complete this request.
  • Talk to Trubbish and climb up to the top of the lighthouse.
    • Several piles of metal will block your way. These can be broken with Cut.
  • You now need to power the lighthouse. The easiest way to do this is:
    • Break the block with water droplets near the bottom of the hills to get the water flowing.
    • Place several Utility Poles leading up to the Spotlights from the Waterwheel to atop the lighthouse.
    • Alternatively, you could try connecting the nearby Windmill to the Spotlights by using Utility Poles.
  • Talk to Peakychu and follow it down to the Charging Station in what looks suspiciously like the former Vermillion City Gym.
  • Talk to Torchic and follow it to the Furnace.
    • Fill the Furnace with burnable objects. I highly recommend ensuring the ‘Time Powered’ metre is maxed out.
  • Talk to Peakychu. Again.
  • Use Utility Poles to ensure at least one side of the Charging Station is connected to the electricity supply you have running through Bleak Beach.
    • During my playthrough, I only had to connect the Waterwheel and Windmill up to the Charging Station with a couple of poles but I recommend connecting the Furnace to it too.
  • Once the Charging Station is fully lit up, talk to Peakychu.
  • Talk to Mosslax.
  • Climb up the cliffside.
  • Talk to Raikou.
  • Talk to Professor Tangrowth.
  • Talk to Mosslax.
  • Congratulations! You’ve completed the ‘Brighten things up!’ Important Request. Depending on the path you’ve taken through Pokopia, you’re now free to either head to Rocky Ridges (accessed via the north-western Area Gate in Withered Wastelands) or to the Sparkling Skylands via the northern Area Gate in Bleak Beach.

In Rocky Ridges, you can complete the ‘Time to party!’ Important Request, while Sparkling Skylands will lead you to the ‘Rebuild the huge building!’ Important Request.

Though can always stick around in Bleak Beach a little longer to increase its Environment Level to 5 and rebuild the Pokémon Center.
