Quantic Dream’s ongoing development for Star Wars Eclipse has been “very slow going,” according to a report on Insider Gaming.
Sources told the site that the development team has been making “very little progress over months,” and while it is believed a solid portion of the game has been finished, but in regards to the content they still need to wrap up, things haven’t been going so well. Back in December, a source claimed “The game, at this stage, is still looking to be years off from completion.”
In addition, it was claimed by the same source that the development team had discussions about expanding its staff, but NetEase wasn’t interesting in investing at the time. As such, Quantic Dream and NetEase are hoping to pull in revenue from Spellcasters Chronicles to then spend on development of Star Wars Eclipse.
At this stage, the long-term outlook is less driven by creative capabilities and more by financial viability. Should Spellcasters fail commercially, NetEase is expected to reevaluate its commitment to the studio and could opt to discontinue further investment.
Quantic Dream last issued an update on Star Wars Eclipse back in October 2025, where it confirmed the project was still in the works and would “share more with you in the future.” The game has been a long time coming, as it was originally announced back in 2021 and has still yet to attract a release window.
