Sony has announced The Playerbase, which presents PlayStation’s ‘biggest fans’ the opportunity to appear in PlayStation Studios titles by having their likeness scanned. Gran Turismo 7 is the first game that will support The Playerbase, and the format holder has confirmed that further PlayStation Studios titles will also support the feature down the line.
The Playerbase will be available in select markets in the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia, and applications for The Playerbase can be submitted from 7.00am PST today. Here, you will be asked a few questions regarding your PlayStation experiences, and will be rquried to sign in using a PlayStation account ID.
Applications will then be reviewed and a limited selection of finalists will be chosen to take part in video interviews, where you’ll provide more details about yourself and connection to PlayStation. One lucky fan will then be selected to appear in Gran Turismo 7 via The Playerbase, offering them a limit-time appearance as an in-game character portrait. The individual will also help design a custom Fantasy Logo and a one-of-a-kind vehicle livery, which will join the Showcase menu permanently.
Finally, the selected fan will be invited to Los Angeles to visit a visual arts studio to participate in a scanning day and collaborate with a designer on their Fantasy Logo and vehicle livery.
