In Crimson Desert, you can commit various crimes, all the way from pickpocketing to full blown murder. But that’ll put you on watch and local townspeople will consider you a threat. Fortunately, there are ways to lower your crime level and come back relatively unscathed.

What kinds of crimes can I commit in Crimson Desert?
If you take a look at our pickpocketing guide, you can see that it’s considered a crime, and so is stealing. You can also be caught committing vandalism if you run over someone else’s property. I’ve done this a few times riding my horse. You can also straight up just kill innocent people. Each of these crimes carry different consequences and penalties.
What happens if I commit a crime in Crimson Desert?
Every time you commit a crime in Crimson Desert, a threat notification pops up at the top left of your screen. With lesser crimes like pickpocketing or vandalism, you just need to exit the red zone surrounding you and you’ll face minimal consequences, like paying a fine that comes directly out of your pocket. The town’s Contribution level will also take a small hit too.
But for more serious crimes, like assault and murder, the penalties will be much harsher. When you assault an NPC or a guard unprovoked, a bounty will automatically be put on Kliff’s head. If there are other guards around, they’ll all gang up on you to take you down.
The more crimes you commit in succession, the higher your bounty goes. Of course, if you actually commit murder by continually hitting NPCs with your weapon, your bounty will skyrocket. Additionally, your Contribution level will be hit with -30, which is a considerable loss.
How to lower Crime Level in Crimson Desert
Currently, there seem to be two ways to lower your crime level in Crimson Desert. The first way is to simply exit the red threat zone surrounding you. This way, you stay out of the local NPC’s sight, and for more serious crimes, the guards will give up searching for you.
The second way to reduce your crime level is to actually get caught by guards. Some guards will tackle you to the ground, forcing you into a minigame, which involves having to time a button press correctly in order to kick the guard off of you. However, you only get around three to four tries to attempt this before the guard knocks Kliff unconscious.
When Kliff wakes up, he’ll be in a jail cell and the guard will let him out, and you’ll be hit with a hefty penalty. In both cases where you escape or get caught, the alert disappears and you’ll be able to roam around freely, even if you did end up murdering someone.
