Completing the Pokédex is a major goal in any Pokémon game and Pokémon Pokopia is no different. (After all, it’s not an entry in the Pokémon universe without an encyclopaedia.) The question you might have, however, is what happens when you complete the Pokédex? Well don’t worry, I’ll outline the Pokopia Pokédex completion reward and how to get it down below.

Pokopia Pokédex completion reward explained
Before I get into what exactly happens after you’ve completed the Pokopia Pokédex, it’s important to note that you need to finish the base Pokédex of 300 Pokémon. You do not need to meet every Pokémon recorded in the separate Dex for the Mon’s appearing via the game’s limited-time events. With that clarified, let’s get on with the show!
1. Make the Neo-Dowsing Machine
After adding your final Pokémon to the Pokédex, you’ll automatically unlock the Neo-Dowsing Machine recipe. Both the notification for this and a call with Professor Tangrowth will tell you it’s time to head to the Sparkling Skylands.
First, however, you need to craft the Neo-Dowsing Machine which requires:
- 1 Dowsing Machine
- 5 Pokémetal
We’ve got a dedicated guide to help you get Pokémetal. Dowsing Machines, meanwhile, can either be found via the glowing blocks, dived for at golden ripples, purchased from the PC or crafted using one Pokémetal. (Though you do need to purchase the Dowsing Machine recipe from the PC for 500 Coins.)
2. Find a Pokémon with the Search Speciality
Once you’ve made the Neo-Dowsing Machine, you need to find a Pokémon with the Search Speciality. To help you out, here’s every Pokémon with the Search Speciality:
- Pidgey
- Pidgeotto
- Paras
- Parasect
- Venonat
- Venomoth
- Vespiquen
- Drilbur
- Excadrill
- Zubat
- Golbat
- Crobat
- Persian
- Psyduck
- Golduck
- Growlithe
- Arcanine
- Ekans
- Arbok
- Skwovet
- Fidough
- Dachsbun
- Farigiraf
- Dedenne
- Noibat
- Noivern
- Dreepy
- Drakloak
- Umbreon
Personally, I recommend picking one of the Pokémon who can fly or float such as Crobat or Drakloak. This is because the area you need to visit in Sparkling Skylands doesn’t automatically have a lift set up for it, which will make it difficult for Pokémon moving about on their little legs to reach. You may have already circumvented this problem by placing a lift or making a land bridge though! (Or you’re like me and have been focusing on developing Palette Town instead.)
Once you’ve decided which Pokémon is going to help you out, talk to them while holding the Neo-Dowsing Machine to begin searching.
3. Find the hidden office in the Sparkling Skylands
To find it, you need to head to the north-westerly island in the Sparkling Skylands where you’ve previously met Gyarados. Once there, go to the ruined building in the north-western corner.
Make sure you’re on the ground floor of this building and start using the Neo-Dowsing Machine. The Pokémon accompanying you will mention that there’s something beneath you! To find it, I recommend destroying the single brown block in the floor. This will lead to another layer of rumble you need to destroy.
Soon you’ll find yourself standing outside of a shutter door with a card reader that looks awfully like the ones on the Area Gates. Interact with said card reader to scan your Pokédex and gain entrance to the room!
4. Collect your rewards
Congratulations! You’ve found your way into the hidden office. While it’s not confirmed in-game, I like to imagine this room is the remains of the Game Freak office that could be found in the original Gen 1 games. Sure this office was originally located in Celadon City, but I argue that they could have had two offices or that this part of the Sparkling Skylands is the remains of that city.
Moving on from my game theory, this room contains the recipes for the Shutter, Card Reader and Printer. Just make sure you pick up those golden Poké Balls! Sadly, this Printer is just a regular printer and can not make copies of items like the 3D Printer in the Pokémon Centers.
The real jewel, however, can be found by interacting with the printer at the back of the room. Doing so will print off a very special Diploma celebrating your completion of the Pokédex! You can hang this Diploma up wherever you like, but pick its location wisely as you can not make copies of it using the 3D Printer.
