Capcom has announced that survival horror sequel Resident Evil Requiem has soared past six million sales worldwide since its launch on February 27, 2026, becoming the fastest entry in the 30-year-old series to reach that figure.
The publisher had previously revealed on March 4 that Resident Evil Requiem had sold five million units worldwide, so evidently the game is still enjoying a lot of momentum in terms of commercial success.
Resident Evil Requiem takes place around 28 years after the destruction of Raccoon City (as depicted in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and its remake), and introduces FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil: Outbreak. While investigating a murder in the same location her mother was killed some years before, Grace becomes entangled in a wider plot surrounding ex-Umbrella scientist, Victor Gideon, who is being tracked by series veteran Leon S. Kennedy in relation to the deaths of survivors of the Raccoon City incident.
Players will switch between Grace and Leon at various intervals throughout Resident Evil Requiem, with Grace’s portions recalling the classic survival horror gameplay of past games while Leon’s is geared more towards the fast-paced action of Resident Evil 4. Capcom has also included the ability to switch between first and third-person via the options menu to suit your preferences.
Capcom announced last week that it is developing additional content for Resident Evil Requiem, with a Photo Mode and mini-game set to arrive in the next few months followed by a story expansion. You can read our full review of the game here.
