The fan-favourite Pokémon, Pikachu, returns in Pokémon Pokopia albeit with two different forms. The new form of Pikachu – known as Peakychu – is a pale, colourless version of the ‘mon that you’ll meet as part of Pokopia’s story.
That said, this Pikachu – as well as your typical yellow Pikachu – are both still capable of generating lots of power with your help, but you’ll need to track them down first. Here’s how to get Pikachu in Pokémon Pokopia.

How to get Pikachu in Pokémon Pokopia
There are technically two ways to get Pikachu in Pokopia. The first is by meeting Peakychu as part of the game’s story, and the second is by meeting yellow Pikachu in the game’s sandbox mode that’s available in Palette Town. We’ll run through both ways of getting Pikachu in this guide!
How to get Pikachu
To get Pikachu in Pokopia, you’ll need to set up the ‘Picnic set’ habitat in Palette Town and play at nighttime, which is when both Pikachu and its pre-evolution Pichu are more likely to appear.
Palette Town is the sandbox area found west of Withered Wastelands, and if you wish to speed this process up, don’t forget that you can time travel in Pokopia.
Pikachu is also exclusive to Palette Town and won’t spawn elsewhere in your world. However, once you do have a Pikachu living in Palette Town, you can ask them to follow you back to Withered Wastelands and invite them to move into a home there.
Here’s how to get Pikachu step by step:
1. Set up the ‘Picnic set’ habitat in Palette Town
Pay a visit to Palette Town which is west of Withered Wastelands and set up Pikachu’s preferred habitat, the ‘Picnic set’ habitat. This requires the following items:
- 2x Any Seat
- 1x Any Table
- 1x Picnic Set
2. Wait until nighttime
Nighttime is when Pikachu and their pre-evolution Pichu are more likely to appear, so you’ll want to go about doing other tasks and Requests in Pokopia until nighttime rolls around, then visit Palette Town again.
As previously mentioned, you can use time travel to speed this process up if you’d rather not wait around for Pikachu to appear.
3. Meet Pikachu and ask them to move into another area, if you want to
Sooner or later, Pikachu (and/or Pichu) will appear at the ‘Picnic set’ habitat you’ve set up in Palette Town. Once you do encounter them, you can leave them to live in Palette Town or invite them to live elsewhere. To do this, make sure you have another ‘Picnic set’ habitat set up in the area you want them to move into then ask them to follow you to it.
Once you reach the habitat, speak to Pikachu and ask if they’d like to move in. Provided the habitat suits their needs, they’ll gladly accept and you can have Pikachu living wherever you’d like in your world.
How to get Peakychu
To get Peakychu in Pokopia, you’ll need to unlock Bleak Beach and start completing the Brighten Things Up! Important Request there. During this Request, you’ll eventually encounter Pikachu, be able to befriend them, and then have them permanently move into Bleak Beach.
Here’s how to get Peakychu step by step:
1. Unlock access to Bleak Beach
To meet Peakychu, you’ll first need to unlock the region that they’re found in: Bleak Beach. This area becomes accessible via the eastern gate in Withered Wastelands after completing the Yawn Up A Storm! Important Request.
As part of the Yawn Up A Storm! Important Request, you’ll need to rescue Onix, raise the area’s humidity levels, and get Slowpoke to unleash a yawn powerful enough to make it rain.
2. Start the Brighten Things Up! Important Request in Bleak Beach
Once you have access to Bleak Beach, speak to Professor Tangrowth there and begin completing the Brighten Things Up! Important Request. As part of this, you’ll need to spend some time helping out Meowth and restoring power to as many light sources in the area that you can.
To do this, you’re going to need to set up a lot of Utility Poles, and connect them to the streetlights, windmills, and waterwheels in the area. You can also take a look at our guide on how to generate electricity for more help.
Once the town has been illuminated enough, you’ll eventually be invited to meet Mosslax; this Pokémon needs even more light to be able to wake up, and there’s only one Pokémon capable of producing that amount of energy…
3. Meet Peakychu
Depending on how much progress you’ve made restoring Bleak Beach up until now, you may need to complete a few more Requests before Pikachu shows up, but they will appear not too long after your first encounter with Mosslax.
Once they do appear, you’ll find a pale, sleeping Peakychu on one of the islands near Mosslax. Interact with them to wake them up and add them to your Pokédex. You now officially have Peakychu living in your world! There’s still a little more to go until you’re finished restoring Bleak Beach, but Peakychu will be of great help while you do that.
