How to get Mewtwo in Pokémon Pokopia

Mewtwo is one of the legendary Pokémon you can meet and make a habitat for in Pokémon Pokopia.

While you’ll encounter Mewtwo during Pokopia’s main campaign, it will only be a brief visit. Thankfully, there is a way to permanently add Mewtwo to a location but you need to know where to look and some patience. Take a look below and I’ll teach you exactly how to get Mewtwo in Pokopia.

How to get Mewtwo in Pokopia

To get Mewtwo you need to visit the Dragonite Doll Dream Island (Sky) in Pokopia. You may, however, get lucky by using either the Ditto or Substitute Doll as both can send you to a randomly selected island.

Whatever method you choose, it’s important to remember that you can only visit one Dream Island per day and its layout will be selected randomly. This includes whether Mewtwo is present on the island, so you might not encounter the Gen 1 legendary! Though you could always try some time travel…

1. Check to see if Mewtwo is on the Dragonite Doll Dream Island

To check whether Mewtwo is present on the island, you first need to head to the mountain at its centre and find the cave at its base. There may be more than one cave, so keep an eye out! In fact, you better really keep those eyes peeled as the mountainous terrain of the Sky Dream Island can make it difficult to find the caves entrance. If you’re having trouble, try getting some height and flying around the island for a bird’s eye view.

The cave you’re looking for will take you into the depths of the island and traversing it may include breaking a wall of rubble. You’ll know if Mewtwo is present because you’ll eventually come across an inner cavern which will resemble a Gym. Through the gaps in the wall, you’ll be able to glimpse Mewtwo.

Either squeeze through those gaps or smash the blocks apart, but you may need a Hamburger Steak for that last one.

2. Talk to Mewtwo

Once inside, you’ll find yourself standing in front of Mewtwo – head over for a quick chat! Mewtwo will ask you to find a place to live, so select ‘Certainly’. I highly recommend doing so to ensure you don’t accidentally end up having to find Mewtwo again.

After this, you’ll be given the option to return to Drifloon with Mewtwo. Again, I recommend doing this as it will save a lot of time. You can still return to the Dream Island later and it’s a good idea to do so as you’ll find three Rare Pokémetal Ingots in the Yellow Poké Ball where you first met Mewtwo.

3. Make a habitat for Mewtwo

Once you’ve left the Dream Island, it’s time to make a habitat for Mewtwo. I recommend either making an easy habitat like ‘Tall Grass’ or popping it in an empty house like I did. This will ensure you have Mewtwo while also giving you enough time to make it a special habitat.

Just remember to head over to wherever you want Mewtwo to live, select ‘Wanna move in here?’ followed by ‘Yes, it will indeed!’ and you’ll be all set. It’s a good idea to spread out your legendaries across multiple locations as improving their Comfort Levels provides a good boost to an area’s Environment Level compared to other Pokémon.

Best of luck finding Mewtwo! If you’re looking for more legendaries, we’ve got guides on Suicune, Entei and Raikou. There’s also the complete Pokopia Pokédex and Habitat Dex.
