Moltres is the Fire-type legendary bird and is one of the many legendaries hidden away in Pokémon Pokopia.
Unlike some legendaries, like Suicune, who require luck to find, Moltres is found by building the Altar of Flame. The downside? You first need to find the building kit and all of the required materials. So let’s take a look at how to find Moltres and build the Altar of Flame in Pokopia.

How to get Moltres in Pokopia
You need to build the Altar of Flame to get Moltres in Pokopia. Like the other legendary bird related kits, you’ll need to put in a good amount of work to achieve this.
1. Get the Altar of Flame building kit
Step one is easy: find the Altar of Flame building kit. It’s located atop the north-eastern island in Palatte Town. Simply climb to the top of this mountain and you’ll find a Yellow Poké Ball atop a plinth. That’s your Altar of Flame building kit!
While you’ll be prompted to visit Palette Town after completing the Important Request in either Bleak Beach or Rocky Ridges, you can actually visit it straight after completing the tutorial. (Though Pokopia will try to dissuade you from doing so.) Palette Town itself is reached by taking the western road out of the Withered Wasteland.
If you’re having trouble reaching the Altar of Flame building kit, try returning after Ditto has learnt how to swim and fly.
2. Build Altar of Flame
Step number two is finding somewhere to build the Altar of Flame. Now this building takes up a lot of space, so make sure it’s placed somewhere you’d really like a massive temple to be. It doesn’t have to be placed in Palatte Town, but keep in mind that you’ll most likely have to spend some time terraforming.
I decided I wanted to build the Altar of Flame behind the volcano in Rocky Ridges. It definitely looks cool, but it also took about two hours to set up. This included getting rid of all the Volcanic Ash, making sure the floor was properly set up and then building the staircases required to actually reach it!
Once the Altar of Flame building kit is in place, you’ll need the following to build it:
| Materials | Pokémon |

15 Pokémon, including:

If you don’t have Pokémon with all of the required Specialties in the location where you’ve decided to build the Altar of Flame, then you can always move one from another location. We’ve also got an all Specialities list to help you out.
Copper Ingots are found by smelting Copper Ore, which itself can be found in Rocky Ridges, Bleak Beach and the Clefairy Doll Dream Island. For Pokémetal, we have a guide on how to get Pokémetal.
Now the next two materials both require you to have eaten a Hamburger Steak to power up Rock Smash to obtain! Gold Ingots are obtained through smelting Gold Ore, which can be found in Rocky Ridges and the Arcanine Doll Dream Island. (A lot of smelting for kit.) Finally, Lava Rocks are hidden in the depths of the Rocky Ridges mine and on the Arcanine Doll Dream Island.
After gathering all of the required materials and Pokémon, it’s time to start building. It will take one day for the Altar of Flame to be constructed.
I’ve seen reports that you can only build one legendary bird home at time, but did not encounter this myself. Though this could be because I spread the three building kits out across three different locations.
3. Go meet Moltres
Whether you let time pass naturally or time travel, once the Altar of Flame is constructed, head inside to meet Moltres! If Moltres is the last legendary bird you needed to meet, then you’ll also unlock the Tidal Bell recipe at this point.
Best of luck on meeting Moltres! We’ve also got guides on how to find Articuno and Zapdos, along with the complete Pokopia Pokédex and Habitat Dex.
