Paper in Pokémon Pokopia is one of many necessary resources, as you’ll need it for both crafting new decorative items as well as completing the overarching ‘Do the… Team Initiation Challenge’ Request that spans all areas of the game. The third stage of this particular request requires you to hand over ten pieces of Paper, but how do you get Paper in Pokopia?
This guide explains exactly how to get Paper in Pokopia, including how to get the items (and Pokémon) necessary for making the material.

How to get Paper in Pokémon Pokopia
To get Paper in Pokopia, you need a Pokémon that has the Recycle Specialty and some Wastepaper. You can then give Wastepaper to the Recycle Specialty Pokémon and ask them to turn it into Paper for you. A short while later, your Paper will be ready to collect. Simple as that!
The issue with recycling Wastepaper into Paper however is that you won’t be able to do it right away in Pokopia, as there are a few things you’ll need to do beforehand. These include first finding a Pokémon with the Recycle Specialty, and then finding some Wastepaper.
You’ll likely encounter your first Recycle Specialty Pokémon in Bleak Beach (which you can visit after rebuilding the Withered Wastelands Pokémon Center) after Piplup gives you a hint for Trubbish’s ‘trash collection site’ habitat. This requires the following items:
- Any Waste Bin
- Any Sign
- 1x Garbage Bags
If you don’t yet have any Garbage Bags to decorate with in Pokopia, pick up some Nonburnable Garbage from off the floor around Bleak Beach, and this will likely prompt you to learn the Garbage Bags Recipe.
Once you’ve got a Recycle Pokémon such as Trubbish, you then need to find some Wastepaper which is located in the Sparkling Skylands area. This won’t unlock until you’ve made a fair amount of Pokopia progress and increased your Trainer Rank, but once you can visit the area, you’ll find Wastepaper littered all over the place.
Similarly, you can also use the Dragonite Doll to visit a Dream Island containing plenty of Wastepaper, but you’ll only be able to track down this Doll once you reach Sparkling Skylands too.
