Rockstar Has Reportedly Spent Over Billion Developing Grand Theft Auto VI – PlayStation Universe

Grand Theft Auto VI developer Rockstars North has likely put over two billion dollars developing the upcoming open-world crime epic, according to folk who have been looking into the company’s financial documents.

Saukko505 on YouTube posted a video where they looked at financial documents that are publicly available on the UK Government website, which breaks down how much Rockstar’s studios spent on staff salaries and other expenses between 2019 and present day. From these findings, the YouTuber speculated that GTA VI’s budget reached between three – five billion on the high end, but noted this is just his conclusion and not an official figure.

Furthermore, expenditure doesn’t necessarily equate to the budget of a game, and Rockstar very likely had a number of its developers working on other projects during that time, including GTA Online, Red Dead Online, Red Dead Redemption’s current-generation update, and more.

Take-Two revealed during its latest earnings call back in February that it will be kicking off marketing for GTA VI in the summer. Elsewhere, IGN spoke to the publisher’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, and asked the executive how he felt about GTA VI’s November 2026 release date, prompting him to reply, “I feel good about it. Very good about it.” As previously reported, Strauss also denied reports that the physical version of GTA VI would be delayed to after release in an effort to avoid leaks.
