PS5 Pro Sales Have Spiked Massively In Wake Of Upgraded PSSR Update Reveal – PlayStation Universe

Sony’s announcement of an upgraded PSSR update arriving in March seems to have had a knock-on effect on PS5 Pro sales, as the console has sold out at retailers in the US and PlayStation Direct.

The PS5 Pro boasts a number of improvements over the original version of the console, including a GPU that is 45% faster than the standard incarnation of the system, as well of course the first iteration of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which is an image upscaling technology. Its ray-tracing performance is also far greater than that of the regular PS5, although unlike the launch models it doesn’t ship with a disc drive; you have to purchase one separately.

Meanwhile, the the system also supports Game Boost, which allows selected titles from the PS4 library to run at an improved resolution on the PS5 Pro. Sony launched the PS5 Pro worldwide on November 7, 2024 priced at $699/£699.

As noted by X user NIB, people have stated flocking to the PS5 Pro again in wake of Sony’s upgraded PSSR reveal, not to mention the fact Resident Evil Requiem is the first title to take advantage of it.
