Knowing how to increase your storage in Pokémon Pokopia is incredibly important. Trust me, you’re going to be collecting a lot of items before you know it.
Whether it’s new furniture, resources like Lumber or useful tools like the Security Cameras, Ditto’s bag in Pokopia is going to get full very quickly. Though there’s useful items like the Handy Bag that can help manage your storage.
Down below I’ll walk you through how to expand your bag in Pokopia and take a look at storage boxes.

How to expand bag in Pokopia
To expand your bag in Pokopia, you need to purchase the Packing Tips from the Shop on the PC. Packing Tips are gradually unlocked as you progress through Pokopia’s main campaign.
Here’s when every Packing Tip unlocked for me and how much they cost:

Pokopia Handy Bag explained
The Handy Bag is one of the items you’ll be able to purchase from the start of Pokopia and costs 500 Coins. Purchasing the Handy Bag unlocks 10 additional storage slots, which sit at the bottom of your bag.
While these slots can simply be used for additional storage, the Handy Bag does have additional purpose. If you hold down the right analogue stick while looking at your bag, you’ll be able to have the Handy Bag appear on screen while playing. This will allow you to access any item within the Handy Bag without having to open your bag quickly, which is incredibly useful if you’re decorating an area or building a structure.
It’s important to note, however, that having the Handy Bag active changes the controls for switching moves. Instead of simply being able to switch moves by using the D-Pad, you’ll instead have to hold down the L button and pick the move you wish to use from there. (If you’ve played Zelda: Breath of the Wild and / or Tears of the Kingdom, this will be very familiar.)
Don’t worry if you dislike this change, it can easily be reversed by holding down the right analogue stick while looking at your bag.

Pokopia storage boxes explained
You’re going to be collecting a lot of items in Pokopia and, even with a fully expanded bag, you’re not going to be able to carry them all. That’s where the storage boxes come in. As the name suggests, and as you likely know from other games, these will allow you to store whatever you desire. While other furniture items, like lockers and cabinets, do let you store items, storages boxes come with a bonus…
I highly recommend placing your storage boxes near a Workbench. Not only because it will make them easy to find, but, if a storage box is placed next to a Workbench, then the items inside will be used automatically when crafting. This is incredibly useful as it cuts down on the amount of time you have to spend doing item management.
I’ve found two storage box recipes in Pokopia so far – Storage Box and Big Storage Box.
One Storage Box costs one Lumber to make and can hold 20 items. Remember – items can stack!
A Big Storage Box costs three Pokémetal Ingots to make and holds 60 items. While this box is bigger, keep in mind that Pokémetal can be quite hard to find so you might not want to use it all on storage boxes straight away.
Pokopia Storage Speciality explained
Pokémon with the Storage Speciality, like Gulpin, can also help you store items by putting said items inside of them. Simply talk to them and select ‘I wanna check my storage’ to access their individual storage boxes. (Which I’m pretty sure is just their stomachs. Still not the strangest thing a Pokémon game has done.)
A Storage Speciality Pokémon can hold at least 20 items for you, making them the equivalent of a Storage Box. The only downside is that these Pokémon are tied to the biome they live in and they can go for a wander within it. Just remember that you can use Honey to attract them back to their habitat.
