Michał Nowakowski, CEO of CD Projekt RED, has revealed that the studio took on more than 220 people in the last year, many of which are now hard at work on The Witcher IV.
Speaking on X in regard to the company’s upcoming projects, the executive revealed that the Polish studio now employs nearly 1,000 people, and over half that figure are currently working on The Witcher IV.
Over the past year more than 220 developers have joined our teams,. Most of new hires are working on The Witcher 4 where they help to improve quality and scale up solutions presented in the Unreal Fest tech demo across the entire game.
In total, CDPR employs 933 developers, and 499 are currently involved in some capacity on The Witcher IV. Previously, the developer confirmed in November 2025 that 447 of its staff were attached to development of the highly anticipated fantasy-RPG. Furthermore, Piotr Nielubowicz, Chief Financial Officer for CDPR, reeled in a financial overview video that “the production of The Witcher 4 is steaming ahead.”
The Witcher IV is slated to launch at some point after 2026, and unlike the original trilogy, will feature Ciri as the lead character, although Geralt is still going to feature in some capacity. Last month, it was revealed that The Witcher III: Wild Hunt composer Marcin Przybyłowicz is returning for the sequel.
