Speaking during an interview with GamesBeat, Mark Gerhard, CEO of Build a Rocket Boy, has revealed that a new mission for MindsEye will be released and contain evidence backing up the developer’s claims of sabotage that occurred during the game’s launch window.
The new mission will be titled Blacklist and adds a female playable character, with Gerhard confirming, “We’re also using that to share some of the evidence of the sabotage with the community.”
We’ve got very strong evidence of this and conducted quite thorough investigations over the months since launch. We’ve identified parties involved, and it’s now with the authorities both UK and US to deal with. I can confirm that they’re assisting us with this investigation, but it’s also in their hands now. We’ll leave them to do what they do, make their arrests or any announcements in due course. I think we’re not saying anything further at this stage on that. We’ll just let the natural course of justice take its take its path.
Back in March, Build A Rocket Boy confirmed that more layoffs had hit the studio, with Gerhard revealing on LinkedIn that it was working with external partners to look into “criminal activity” surrounding MindsEye’s launch. Not long after that, IO Interactive announced that its publishing collaboration with Build A Rocket Boy had ended.
MindsEye was released on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in June 2025, but was plagued by numerous bugs and performance issues, which resulted in Build A Rocket Boy hastily working on fixes. The PlayStation Store started offering refunds on the game, and Build A Rocket Boy later stated it was heartbroken by MindsEye’s launch woes.
