Eidos Montreal has announced it has cut 124 jobs in another round of layoffs for the Embracer-owned studio, while David Anfossi, who has been with the company for 19 years, is stepping down from his position.
Speaking in a statement, Eidos Montreal noted that the decision “reflects the need to adapt and concentrate efforts where Eidos Montreal can be most effective.”
We are deeply grateful to the team members impacted; this decision is not a reflection of their talent, dedication, or performance. Supporting those impacted with care and respect remains our priority, while ensuring continuity for the teams moving forward. Also, after many years as Head of Studio, David Anfossi and Eidos Montréal are also parting ways. We thank David for his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors. A transition plan is underway, and further updates will be shared as new leadership is finalized.
Back in December 2025 it was reported that Eidos Montreal had suffered job losses after a number of staff members took to social media to confirm they had been laid off. Prior to that, March 2025 saw 75 people lose their jobs at Eidos Montreal.
Meanwhile, Insider Gaming reported earlier this year that Eidos Montreal is currently working on an ‘AAAA’ game powered by Unreal Engine 5, which is apparently a new IP known as P11 and will be shown later this year “if things go well.”
