Starfield PS5 Release Date Officially Set For April 7, Includes Free Lanes Update & Quality-Of-Life Improvements – PlayStation Universe

Bethesda Game Studios has announced after more than two years of rumours that Starfield is finally coming to the PS5, and what’s more, it’s just around the corner – the science fiction RPG launches for Sony’s console on April 7, 2026.

The PS5 version of Starfield will include all previously release updates for the game, as well as various quality-of-life improvements including “clearer, more functional surface maps and the REV-8 land vehicle” that offers smoother planetary exploration. Furthermore, it will also include the Free Lanes update, which is slated to arrive for the existing PC and Xbox Series X/S versions of Starfield on the same day.

As expected, the PS5 edition of the sci-fi RPG makes full use of the DualSense controller with adaptive triggers that offer unique feedback depending on your weapon type, while the light bar highlights your character and ship’s health. Meanwhile, the touchpad for the PS5 controller is used for switching POVs and looking at your map as a handy shortcut.

Starfield will be available in Standard and Premium Editions both digitally and physically. The regular version of the game includes the base game, while the Premium Edition adds the Terran Armada DLC, Shattered Space DLC, 1000 Creation Credits, Constellation Skin Pack, and Digital Artbook & Digital Soundtrack. You purchase this version as an upgrade to the Standard Edition.
