Pokémon Pokopia Withered Wasteland walkthrough

Now, here’s our complete walkthrough of Withered Wasteland, which starts the moment you finish helping your Ditto transform into their previous owner (also known as character customisation…)

When you awaken, speak to the mysterious Pokémon who then turns out to be Professor Tangrowth and your journey will begin!

  1. Follow Professor Tangrowth outside and help the de-hydrated Squirtle.
  • Walk up to interact with the Squirtle and you’ll learn the Water Gun ability.
  • Use your new Water Gun ability by standing in front of Squirtle and pressing ZR to spray them with Water.
  • The now re-hydrated Squirtle will be grateful and added to your Pokédex!
  • Water the dry ground around you with Water Gun.
    • Use your new ability to water the dry brown tiles around Squirtle to turn them green. We recommend watering the four patches of dry grass nearby to discover the ‘Tall Grass’ Habitat.
    • Then, find a patch of four dry flowers and water them to discover the ‘Pretty Flower Bed’ Habitat.
    • At this point, head back to the Tall Grass as you may have a visitor!
  • Water all the Tall Grass for Bulbasaur and learn Leafage.
    • After making friends with Bulbasaur, they’ll have a speech bubble with an orange ring around it above their head. Speak to them to pick up their request.
    • Now, to fulfill this request, continue wandering around the immediate area and use Water Gun to rehydrate one more dry tall grass. We recommend doing so to one of the trees nearby.
    • When you’ve done enough, another speech bubble will appear above Bulbasaur’s head saying ‘Let me teach you!’. At this point, speak with Bulbasaur to learn Leafage – a valuable move for creating more Habitats.
  • Speak to Squirtle to pick up their request.
    • Squirtle should now have a ‘I want a home!’ speech bubble above their head. Speak to them to pick up their request.
    • Use Leafage to place down four pieces of Tall Grass next to each other in a 4×4 formation to create another ‘Tall Grass’ Habitat.
    • Speak to Squirtle again when they get the ‘Hey Ditto!’ orange speech bubble above their head. Select ‘Go for it!’ and Squirtle will move into their new home.
  • Speak to Professor Tangrowth again.
    • They’ll give you a chair as a gift. (Thanks, I guess?)
    • True to form, your Ditto will swallow the chair. Once swallowed, look around and use A to spit out the Chair to place it down in front of the Professor.
    • Then press A again to sit on the chair.
  • Follow Bulbasaur to what they’ve found for you.
    • Speak to them again when you’re by the box they’ve found and they’ll reveal it’s actually a Workbench for crafting.
    • Interact with the Workbench to open it up and you’ll collect some simple wooden DIY recipes.
  • Make something to warm up chilly Pokémon at the new Workbench.
    • Interact with the Workbench again to open it up and select the ‘Campfire’ recipe to craft.
    • To make a Campfire you’ll need one Sturdy Stick and one Stone. Luckily, these are both things you can readily find around this first area.
    • Craft the Campfire and then take it to Professor Tangrowth. Place it in front of them out of your bag.
    • However, it’s not lit – so onto your next job!
  • Make a Tall Grass Habitat to attract Charmander.
    • Use Leafage and Water Gun (if needed) to create another Tall Grass Habitat to attract the final Kanto Starter.
    • Wait briefly for Charmander to arrive in the Grass.
    • Once you’ve got them, lead them to the Campfire and once they’re close enough they’ll use their flames to light it.
  • Though Pokopia follows real-world time, for this moment only it’ll be night time and all of you will go to sleep. When you awake the next morning, follow Professor Tangrowth to the nearby building and speak to them once they’re outside it. (My my, doesn’t that look familiar…)
    • Walk up to the PC and press A to check it. Your Environment Level will be marked as terrible.
    • The PC will boot up its Poké Life app, one of five apps available on the PC.
    • The first thing it will unlock is Challenges – you can complete daily challenges to create a better environment for your Pokémon.
    • Click the ‘Challenges’ app and view the three challenges on it.
  • Complete the three Challenges at the PC:
    • Collect six Pokémon – Create Habitats using Leafage and Water Gun.
    • Water five Trees – Use Water Gun.
    • Gather 10 Sturdy Sticks – Wander around the area, you’ll find plenty of them.
  • When you’ve completed all three challenges, interact with the PC, enter ‘Challenges’ and press A to collect their rewards.
  • Improve other Pokémon’s comfort levels, and start by talking to Bulbasaur.
    • Bulbasaur wants something relaxing and they’ll give you the recipe for a straw bed.
    • Head to the Workbench to make a straw bed with two leaves.
    • Place the straw bed down in Bulbasaur’s Habitat.
  • Return to the PC and interact with it to find your Environment Level is up to two now. More features on the PC have been unlocked as well, like the shop.
  • Speak to Professor Tangrowth again, then buy a Leaf Den kit from the shop on the PC.
    • Explore the area and find somewhere you’d like to live. Once you’ve settled on a place, put one of the Leaf Den kits down.
    • Interact with the kit and you’ll find you need the following:
      • 3x Sturdy Stick.
      • 3x Leaves.
      • 1 Pokémon with the Build Specialty.
      • 1 Other Pokémon.
  • Attract Timburr by making the Boulder-shaded Tall Grass Habitat.
    • When they arrive, get them to follow you to the Leaf Den kit site and submit them to the project.
  • Gather everything needed and make the Leaf Den.
  • When the Leaf Den is finished, speak to Timburr to pick up their request.
    • You need to get and place three pieces of furniture into your new Leaf Den. You can buy these from the PC shop, find them on the ground, or craft them yourself at a Workbench.
    • Place the items inside your new Leaf Den then speak to Timburr again to wrap up their request.
  • Speak to Charmander, they should have an orange speech bubble above their heads now. Then go and speak to Professor Tangrowth too. Follow the conversation, then place the Ditto Flag on top of your Leaf Den to claim it as your new home.
  • Speak to Professor Tangrowth (yet again) and pick up the ‘Rebuild the Pokémon Center’ Important Request.
    • Now, don’t panic, you won’t be able to complete this right away. This is an Important Request that has several mini-requests, and one other Important Request, all tucked into it.
  • Buy the Pokémon Center rebuilding kit from the PC for 1,000 Life Coins.
  • Interact with the small house icon on a wooden board in front of the Pokémon Center.
  • You’ll then be prompted to find a Pokémon with the Bulldoze Specialty.
    • To do this, face the destroyed Pokémon Center and then follow the path left until you find Squirtle. Speak to them and they’ll tell you that they want to know what’s behind the cliffs.
    • Go through the path indicated by Squirtle and you’ll reach a beach area with a cave.
    • From the water, head into the cave area to your right. Head over here and up to the last level near the back of the cave. When facing the Area Gate, look to your right and you should see an orange speech bubble with ‘Hey! Heyyy! Anybody out there?!’
    • Head over to the speech bubble and you should find it’s coming from behind a pile of blocks. Use Rock Smash to break through these.
    • Once through, you should be able to spot Onix trapped behind a wall!
  • Speak to Onix and do as they say, though you’ll soon need to speak to Professor Tangrowth again.
  • You need rain to help you break Onix free, but how will you do that? Your next job is to attract a Slowpoke!
    • Find somewhere to create a Seaside Tall Grass Habitat. To do this, head back to the area where you first met Squirtle and then beyond that you should find a wall covered by sand blocks. Break through these and you should be through to a much bigger beach area. (You can even find a Magikarp flopping about).
    • Use Leafage to place four plots of grass next to the water’s edge here, this should trigger the Seaside Tall Grass Habitat. If it doesn’t, you may need to be closer to the water.
    • Wait for Slowpoke to appear and speak to them.
  • Create a path to the Professor for Slowpoke.
    • To do this, use Water Gun to water the ground to lay out a path for Slowpoke. Pick up any debris that could block their path, and make stairs to help them get up the larger ground elevations.
  • Speak to Slowpoke after building the path and select ‘Sure is!’ to get them to head to the Professor. Note: This can take a while, their name is Slowpoke for a reason!
  • Once Slowpoke is there, you’ll begin and need to complete the ‘Yawn up a Storm!’ Important Request.
  • When that has been completed and rain has returned to the Withered Wasteland, return to Onix and use Rock Smash to break them free.
  • You can now either choose to complete the Withered Wasteland Pokémon Center, or head off to the new areas you’ve unlocked: Rocky Ridges and Bleak Beach!
