There are a few ways in which you can generate electricity in Pokémon Pokopia, some of which rely on the many Pokémon you’ll befriend, while others rely on your own hard-work and engineering skills. Don’t fret though, as restoring power to Bleak Beach and beyond is very easily done once you know how to do it.
In this guide, we run through how to get electricity in Pokopia so that you can quickly bring some light back to the dark, abandoned area of Bleak Beach.

How to get electricity in Pokémon Pokopia
There are quite a few options for how you can generate electricity in Pokopia: you can use a Pokémon with the Generate Specialty or set up your own power lines using Utility Poles and Generators (in Bleak Beach, there are Windmill Generators you can use). Here are all the ways in which you can generate electricity in Pokopia:
1. Use Generate Specialty Pokémon
Pokémon with the Generate Specialty will provide power to an item – such as a streetlamp or other electronic device – if you have them follow you over to it.
They will only be able to do this temporarily however, meaning that if the device they have powered runs out of electricity, you’ll need to bring them back to it. There are also some devices that Pokémon aren’t powerful enough to provide electricity to. This is where our other options for generating electricity come in handy.

2. Set Up Utility Poles
Utility Poles are your bread and butter when it comes to getting electricity in Pokopia. Once you find a source of power – be it a Pokémon, Furnace, or Generator – you can hook up Utility Poles to then allow that power to travel elsewhere.
As a forewarning, to fully restore power to Bleak Beach, you’ll need a lot of Utility Poles; a stack of five costs two Iron Ore and two Stone to craft, and you can easily get Iron Ore by giving Nonburnable Garbage to Trubbish to recycle.
In Bleak Beach specifically, there are power sources already built for you; they simply need to be near a source of water and to then be hooked up to some Utility Poles. These are the huge Waterwheels and Windmills in the area – near the Lighthouse to the north – that can be used. You may need to break some blocks here to get water flowing first.
Setting up some Utility Poles from the Waterwheel is just the start when it comes to restoring power to Bleak Beach. To fully illuminate the area, you’ll want to ensure your Utility Poles are connected to both the Charging Station and the huge Furnace in the area (make sure to fill this Furnace up with fuel too to have a constant and reliable source of electricity).

3. Use Mini Generators
After restoring power to Bleak Beach, more options for generating electricity in Pokopia will slowly but surely become available to you. The first of these is the Mini Generator which costs just one Pokémetal to craft.
This is a small, portable generator that you can use to transmit power – alongside Utility Poles – wherever you need it.
Perhaps you need to power the lights you have surrounding a home or stall, or have some lava-powered machinery in need of power; Utility Poles and a Mini Generator is how you can quickly do that without needing to rely on the temporary electricity provided by Generate Specialty Pokémon.
4. Use Wireless Transmitters
I’ll be the first to admit – and definitely won’t be the last – that the wires that connect Utility Poles and Generators to one another aren’t the most scenic of additions to your town. In my instance, they’re very messy and constantly getting in the way of otherwise adorable photo opportunities.
This is where Wireless Power Transmitters and Wireless Power Transmitter Switches come in handy, both of which cost one Pokémetal to craft each. You’ll be able to unlock these once you reach Sparkling Skylands, build Porygon’s habitat, and complete their request.
These allow you to wirelessly transmit power from Generators and Furnaces across long distances, so you can eventually bid farewell to Utility Poles and their wires altogether.
Alternatively or in the meantime, you could also sort out some sort of underground Utility Pole operation like this Reddit user did if those wires are really bothering you.
