Electronic Arts has announced that it has cut an unspecified number of jobs at its Battlefield studios, with employees at Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios all affected by the cuts.
Speaking with Eurogamer, a spokesperson for EA commented:
We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organisation to better align our teams around what matters most to our community. Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.
IGN has added that staff are being informed that the layoffs are taking place due to a “realignment” at the studio.
Battlefield 6 was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S back in October 2025, and recently launched its second season of content. The game was a big success both commercially and critically, and marked the first time that the Battlefield series has actually outsold a Call of Duty title.
Despite getting off to a strong start in terms of player numbers however, Battlefield 6 has struggled to maintain momentum and player engagement has declined in terms of daily figures.
