How to get Volcanion in Pokémon Pokopia

Volcanion is one of the legendary Pokémon you’ll meet during the main campaign of Pokémon Pokopia. While it will seemingly vanish after its first appearance, there is a way to meet Volcanion again and move it into a habitat. Though you do have to follow some very specific steps, so let’s take a look at how to get Volcanion in Pokopia.

How to get Volcanion in Pokopia

To get Volcanion in Pokopia, you need to hold a second party in Rocky Ridges. Now this may sound simple, but party planning never is…

1. Complete the ‘Time to party!’ Important Request

The first step in getting Volcanion is actually meeting Volcanion for the first time. To do this, you need to complete the ‘Time to party!’ Important Request in Rocky Ridges. After completing this, you’ll automatically unlock the Cannon and Fireworks recipe which are needed for step two…

2. Make a Cannon and one type of Firework

Before you do anything else it’s a good idea to get your Cannon and Firework of choice all organised, so you have them to hand when the time comes. As mentioned above, both of these recipes are unlocked automatically after completing the ‘Time to party!’ request.

To make a Cannon you need:

There are five different types of Fireworks you can make (White, Red, Green, Yellow, Blue) and it doesn’t matter which one you use. What is important to note, however, is that each one requires a specific type of paint, which is obtained from Pokémon with the Crush Specialitiy. Don’t worry though, we’ve got a list of every Pokémon with the Crush Specialty and a guide on how to get every paint.

Here’s the basic Firework recipe:

  • x1 Pokémetal
  • x1 Study Stick
  • x1 Glowing Stone
  • x1 Paint (Specific to the firework you’re making)

3. Place a Party Cooking Pot

If you’re not already there, now is the time to head back to Rocky Ridges. Once there, you’ll need to set up a Party Cooking Pot if you don’t already have one in place. If you don’t have one at all, then you can purchase one from the PC shop for 100 Coins.

4. Put the curry ingredients in the cooking pot and get the required Pokémon

Before you do anything else, it’s a good idea to get the curry ready for cooking. You can’t cook it yet, but this will save you some time later on.

To make the curry itself, you will need:

  • 15 Leppa Berries
  • 15 Wheat
  • 15 Beans
  • 5 Honey

You’ll also need to round up five Pokémon – one of which will always be Chef Dente – and bring them back to the Party Cooking Pot. Remember to interact with the cooking pot and click them off the list just like you would when constructing a building.

5. Get the mood up to 100

Now it’s time to set the mood for a party! You need to reach 100 mood and this can be checked by talking to DJ Rotom.

Mood can be raised by:

  • Bringing Pokémon with the Hype Speciality to the party. This includes Pokémon like Jigglypuff and Clefable. Check out our Specialties guide for a full list of Hype Pokémon.
  • Placing Party Platters. Don’t forget to add the food!
  • Adding party-themed items like Balloons, Party Bunting, dolls and items obtained via Lost Relics.

Personally, I’ve found that the easiest way to reach 100 mood is to bring at least four Pokémon with the Hype Specialty. After this, I simply keep on placing party-themed items around the area, checking in with DJ Rotom periodically, until I’ve reached 100. You’ll know if an item counts towards a party, because a set of musical tones will appear above it after it’s been placed.

6. Cook the curry

Once the mood is up to 100, it’s time to cook the curry. If you’ve been following this guide, then this should be as easy – just interact with the Party Cooking Pot and select ‘Start cooking!’ If you haven’t been following this guide, however, then you need to gather up the ingredients and required Pokémon.

Either way, it will take seven minutes for the curry to cook and, when it’s ready, you need to interact with the Party Cooking Pot.

7. Use the Cannon to set off the firework

Fireworks time! Simply place your Cannon somewhere within the party ground before interacting with it to load your firework. After this, you need to interact with it again to light the firework.

After setting off the firework, wait roughly five to ten seconds and Volcanion will appear! If it doesn’t, make sure you’ve actually started the party by cooking the curry and serving it.

8. Make a habitat for Volcanion

After completing all of the above steps, you should now be able to freely talk with Volcanion. I highly recommend taking the time to do so and moving it into a habitat. Now this doesn’t need to be a perfect habitat, an easy one like ‘Tall Grass’ will do, but it’s a good idea to ensure you can find them easily. I just stuck Volcanion in a cave, but I’m definitely planning on making them a lava-themed habitat eventually.

It’s a good idea to spread out your legendaries across multiple locations too as improving their Comfort Levels will provide a considerable boost to an area’s Environment Level compared to other Pokémon.

Hope you enjoy partying with Volcanion! If you’re looking for other legendary Pokémon, then I’ve also got guides on how to get Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia and Ho-Oh waiting for you. Plus, there’s a complete Pokopia Pokédex.
