Sony’s PlayStation Store dynamic pricing has been spotted in the wild, with Insider Gaming noting that the first round of examples of the process are quite significant in terms of pricing different depending the consumer.
According to the report, determining factors regarding the pricing appears to be related to how old your account is, how recently you’ve logged in, and other as-yet undetermined factors. However, an example is provided for Stellar Blade, which was offered at a 70% discount to one member of Insider Gaming, while other people are offered 43%.
Right now it appears the dynamic pricing is being applied to Sony’s first-party titles, although it’s too early to tell if this will change.
Earlier this month it was reported that Sony was testing dynamic pricing on the PS5’s PS Store, with PSPrices tracking price changes across more than 100 titles, with a personalised discount of up to 17.6% at the time being logged. Initially reported to have run across 30 regions, this process was later expanded to 70 territories including Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
