You need Keys in Crimson Desert to be able to open locked doors, and there are plenty of those around. There are locked doors where you’ll find a Key as part of the main story quests, but there are a variety of others that are hiding treasures behind them. So, it’s important to know how to get Keys in Crimson Desert.
How to get Keys in Crimson Desert
You can get Keys in Crimson Desert from Back Alley Shops, Bandits, and Theft. These are, of course, not including the ones you’ll be given or obtain through the main story quests.
Back Alley Shops
One quick way of getting Keys is to purchase them from a Back Alley Shop. They’re usually in or around large settlements, like Grimarak in Hernand. Though, this is also the most expensive way of obtaining them.
You can find all of the Back Alley Shop locations on the map below. Thank you to Map Genie for letting us use this:
Bandits
You can also loot Keys off fallen Bandits that you’ve defeated. You’re not guaranteed to pick this item up from them though, you can get a multitude of other items such as Masks.
Theft
You can also steal Keys from certain places, like the Church in Hernand. Just keep in mind that you need to be careful when committing criminal acts because this can raise your crime level and cause others to perceive you as a threat.
How to open locked doors in Crimson Desert
To open locked doors in Crimson Desert you need to walk up to them with the right Key in your inventory. The type of Key you need will depend on what kind of door you want to open and if the target door is part of the main story.
Most doors will open with ‘normal’ Keys that you can buy from Back Alley Shops or found by looting the bodies of defeated Bandits. However, some will need different Keys that may only be available as part of the main or side quests. The door will almost always tell you what kind of key is needed when you try to open it. Such as ‘This door cannot be opened with a normal key’.
If you’ve got the right Key in your inventory when approaching a locked door then the door will automatically open. However, you need to be careful here, because if you walk too close to a locked door you don’t want to open while you have a Key in your inventory then the game may very well choose to use it for you.
