Wahey, Dave The Diver’s jungle DLC finally has a release date. Mintrocket’s waiter/swimmer of the murky depths sim will send its crew off to do some grilling and crocodile hunting in a village far from civilisation this June.
June 18th, to be exact, as confirmed by the fresh trailer above, which starts with a weird dinosaur thing washing up on a beach and having its stomach burst (as happens around here on any random Tuesday). While it’s taken them until now to stick a concrete relese date on the DLC, Mintrocket spilled plenty of beans as to what it’s about late last year.
Dave, chef Bancho, and their mates head off to a jungle village called Utara that the diver can wander around in rather Stardew Valley-esque fashion, helping locals with odd jobs like knocking coconuts out of trees. Bancho sets up Bancho Grill, a new eatery tailored to cooking up the freshwater fish Dave’ll be able to snag from the lake near the village. The wetsuited fellow gets a new jungle gun that morphs into different configurations as protection during his voyages to the lake’s depths.
Crocodiles, piranhas, and eels await him in the murk, mouthing the words “come and have a go if you think you’re ‘ard enough”. Once the catch is caught, Dave faces down the usual band of hungry customers and Bancho Grill, all of whom will likely be mouthing the words “come and have a go at feeding me if you think you’re ‘ard enough”. Even more terrifyingly, time runs freely in this DLC, rather than days being neatly segmented into mornings, afternoons, and nights as they are in the base game.
I’ll close out by pointing out that In the Jungle’s new trailer contains at least two instances of animals dancing. One of them’s flossing. Video games.
