Pokémon Pokopia for the Nintendo Switch 2 sees Ditto take the centre stage in a game for the first time.
Alongside Professor Tangrowth, Ditto is on a mission to bring life back to the world, make new habitats for Pokémon and discover what happened to the missing humans.
Below you’ll find our Pokémon Pokopia walkthrough and guides list to help you on Ditto’s adventure. Just keep in mind that there are small spoilers. If you’re still unsure about whether this game is for you, check out Eurogamer’s Pokémon Pokopia review.
Pokémon Pokopia walkthrough
Pokémon Pokopia’s main campaign is divided across a number of Important Requests, which act as the main storyline for each area, and various side requests. Each request has a number of individual tasks you need to complete – some simple, some not so. Alongside this, you need to continue increasing the Environment Level of a location by attracting new Pokémon with habitats and raising their Comfort Levels.
Down below our Pokopia walkthrough will take you through every main step you need to complete in each main location. Please note that, due to how the game works, certain Pokémon mentioned, like Froakie, may be different in your playthrough.
So here’s our Pokémon Pokopia walkthrough organised by my recommended path through the game. I’ve done my best but this guide does contain small story spoilers.
Withered Wastelands
Your first proper day in Pokopia begins after you’ve completed the tutorial by going to sleep by the campfire. When Ditto wakes up, the 24 hour clock will now apply and you’ll be truly playing Pokopia! While we have a full Withered Wastelands walkthrough, here’s a brief overview of what you need to do:
- Follow Professor Tangrowth to the Pokémon Center ruins and interact with the PC.
- Build some Pokémon habitats, including:
- Scyther to learn Cut.
- Hitmonchan to learn Rock Smash.
- Timburr to have a Build Speciality Pokémon.
- Drilbur to learn Rototiller.
- Build your first house, a Leaf Kit Den.
- Put the Ditto flag atop the house.
- At Environment Level 3, purchase the Pokémon Center rebuilding kit to begin the ‘Rebuild the Pokémon Center’ Important Request.
- Head to the caves north-west of the Pokémon Center to find Onix, this is the Bulldoze Pokémon.
- Return to Professor Tangrowth who will be in the tutorial area.
- Smash through the wall in the cave.
- Go to the tower to begin the ‘Do the… Team Initiation Challenge?’ Important Request. (It’s fine to leave this request till later.)
- Talk to and complete Magikarp’s request.
- Talk Professor Tangrowth at the Pokémon Center.
- Make the ‘Seaside tall grass’ habitat and wait for Slowpoke to appear.
- Help Slowpoke reach the Pokémon Center.
The ‘Yawn up a Storm!’ Important Request will now begin. We’ve got a full ‘Yawn up a Storm!’ walkthrough, but here’s a brief overview on what to do:
- Increasing the humidity.
- Complete requests for Professor Tangrowth, Slowpoke, Bulbasaur and Squirtle.
- Making the ‘Rain Dance site’ habitat.
- Once you’ve done the above, go to the sea shore and talk to Kyogre.
- Break the blocks trapping Onix.
- Talk to Professor Tangrowth.
You’ll now be able to go through the Area Gate. First, however, I recommend completing the ‘Raise the Environment Level’ Important Request by raising the Withered Wastelands Environment Level to 5. (It’s also a good idea to keep the item you receive from this request!)
With the Area Gates open, you now have the choice of two locations: Bleak Beach to the east and Rocky Ridges to the north-west. I recommend going to Bleak Beach first as you’ll learn how electricity works in Pokopia, which you’ll find useful later on.
Bleak Beach
Here’s what I recommend doing first in Bleak Beach:
- Head to the Pokémon Center, building a bridge out of blocks for Professor Tangrowth.
- Repair the fountain by putting blocks in the gaps to rid the Pokémon Center of water.
- Complete the Meowth’s request line about repairing and improving its home.
- Involves building the ‘Chirp-chirp meal’ habitat for Torchic and ‘Hydrated yellow tall grass’ habitat for Piplup.
- Attract more Pokémon via habitats and repair flooded areas.
- Build a house when Professor Tangrowth requests you do so.
- Ideally build a Sand Den to save time. Remember to add the furniture!
- Complete Trubbish’s electricity tutorial request.
- Talk to Trubbish when it’s standing near the Pokémon Center and follow it.
- Return to Professor Tangrowth and talk to him.
- Take Professor Tangrowth and the other Pokémon to Mosslax.
The ‘Brighten things up!’ Important Request will now begin. We’ve got a full ‘Brighten things up!’ walkthrough, but here’s a brief overview of what to do:
- Increase the brightness of Bleak Beach by connecting the lights around the town to Utility Poles and generators.
- Complete requests for Professor Tangrowth, Meowth, Torchic, Peakychu, Trubbish and Mareep.
- Climb up the cliff and talk to Raikou.
Remember to purchase the Pokémon Center rebuilding kit once you reach Environment Level 3 in Bleak Beach to begin this location’s ‘Rebuild the Pokémon Center’ Important Request.
After completing ‘Brighten things up!’, you’ll also be able to begin the ‘Raise the Environment Level’ Important Request by talking to Professor Tangrowth. Like before, it involves reaching Environment Level 5 and I recommend keeping the reward. You can leave this request till later, but I recommend doing it now.
Next return to Withered Wasteland. Once there, you’ll get a notification about being able to visit a new location by going down the road to the west. This is Palatte Town (though you’ll be renaming it) and, since you don’t need to visit it during the main campaign, we’ll stick to the overall walkthrough. Instead, let’s head north-west to Rocky Ridges.
Rocky Ridges
Here’s what I recommend doing first in Rocky Ridges:
- Head down to the Pokémon Center, clearing a path for Professor Tangrowth when needed.
- Talk to Professor Tangrowth at the Pokémon Center.
- Make any habitat and wait for the Pokémon to appear. (I recommend the ‘Red tall grass’ habitat.)
- Make the ‘Grassy training field’ habitat to attract Machoke.
- Talk to Machoke when it appears to learn Strength.
- Push the PC back into place in front of the Pokémon Center.
- Talk to Professor Tangrowth.
- Find the talking barrel inside the building opposite the Pokémon Center.
- Make the ‘Pointy tree-shaded rocky tall grass’ habitat to attract Dartrix.
- Make a Chopping Board using 2 Lumber.
- Make a Salad using 2 Leafs and eat it.
- Make the ‘Mossy hot spring’ habitat to attract Torkoal.
- Make a Bread Oven using 2 Stones, 2 Small Logs and 4 Volcanic Ash.
- Make Bread using 3 Wheat and have a Fire-type Pokémon light the oven.
- Eat the Bread and cut the chain.
- Talk to Chef Dente to start the ‘Make a hamburger steak’ request:
- Talk to and follow Machoke.
- Cut the fence.
- Make the ‘Digging and burning’ habitat to attract Magmar.
- Have Magmar make 2 Copper Ingots.
- Make the Frying Pan using 2 Copper Ingots.
- Make a Hamburger steak using 4 Beans.
- Complete the ‘Investigate the source of the music!’ request for Scorbunny:
- Investigate the source of the music by heading up the tunnel.
- Talk to DJ Rotom.
- After completing the above request, talk to DJ Rotom again when it has a speech bubble.
The ‘Time to Party!’ Important Request will now begin. While we’ve got a full ‘Time to Party’ walkthrough, here’s a brief overview of what you need to do:
- Complete requests from Chef Dente, Professor Tangrowth and DJ Rotom.
- Includes making the ‘Uplighting duckweed’ habitat to attract Ludicolo.
- Get the ‘Hype’ of the party up to 100.
- Involves finding more Pokémon with the Hype Speciality and party themed items like balloons.
- Climb up the mountain and talk to Volcanion.
Upon completing ‘Time to Party!’, you should be able to start the ‘Raise the Environment Level’ Important Request by talking to Professor Tangrowth. You know the drill by now – get the Environment Level up to Level 5 and keep your reward.
Don’t forget to purchase the Pokémon Center rebuilding kit either to ensure you can complete the ‘Rebuild the Pokémon Center’ Important Request for Rocky Ridges.
When you’re ready, head through the Area Gate just north of the one you entered Rocky Ridges to reach the next location.
Sparkling Skylands
Welcome to the floating Sparkling Skylands! Here’s what I recommend doing first:
- Use the lift to reach the Pokémon Center ruins.
- Talk to Rookiedee.
- Attract more Pokémon by making habitats, including the ‘Hydrated pink tall grass’ habitat to attract Froakie.
- Complete Froakie’s request by making the ‘Waterside dinghy’ habitat to attract Dragonite.
- Once Dragonite appears, talk to them to learn Glide.
- Fly over to the next island.
- Climb the tower to meet Tinkamaster.
- Complete Tinkamaster’s request by bringing them 6 Concrete and 1 Iron ingot.
- Make a Lift platform using 5 Iron Ingots, 5 Concrete and 1 Tinkagear.
- Place the lift on the platform below Tinkamaster’s tower.
- Head over to Professor Tangrowth.
- Reach the big building with Professor Tangrowth and Tinkamaster by either making another Lift platform or by climbing up and around the island.
- Talk to Tinkamaster.
- Investigate each floor of the building with Tinkamaster.
- Talk to Tinkamaster at the building’s entrance.
- Look at the building kit.
It’s now time to complete the ‘Rebuild the huge building’ Important Request. Each floor will take an hour to construct thanks to Tinkamaster, which means it will take three hours of construction time in total outside of gathering the materials. Here’s a quick rundown of what you need to do:
- Build Skyland building 2F: 25 Concrete, 10 Glass, 5 Pokémetal and 5 Iron Ingots.
- Build Skyland building 3F: 25 Concrete, 10 Glass, 10 Glowing stone and 15 Copper Ingots.
- Bring Chef Dente from Rocky Ridges to the Skyland building.
- Build Skyland building 4F: 40 Concrete, 15 Glass, 10 Paper, 10 Bricks and 20 Lumber.
- Bring Peakychu from Bleak Beach to the Skyland building.
- Head to the building’s roof and talk to Mewtwo.
As always, don’t forget that you’ll most likely unlock the ‘Raise the Environment Level’ Important Request after this. It’s exactly the same as the ones before it – Environment Level 5 required and keep your reward. (Trust me.) You can also start the Sparkling Skylands ‘Rebuild the Pokémon Center’ Important Request after purchasing the Pokémon Center rebuilding kit.
Once the ‘Rebuild the huge building’ Important Request is complete, it’s time to finish the ‘Do the… Team Initiation Challenge?’ Important Request. After this is done – congratulations! You’ve completed Pokopia! You’re now free to continue improving the world, but may I suggest exploring what’s under your feet first…
