Pearl Abyss has shared details on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Crimson Desert ahead of its launch next week, revealing the game is able to run at 4K 60 FPS + with ‘high’ ray tracing features enabled on the PS5 Pro.
A table posted on the official website for the game revealing three modes — Performance, Balanced, and Quality — which offer varying performances in terms of resolution, target frame rate, and ray-tracing quality. For example, the standard PS5 version of Crimson Desert runs at 1080p/60 FPS VSync with low ray-tracing efforts while in Performance Mode, while on the PS5 Pro on the same setting, it runs at upscaled 4K/60 FPS Sync with high ray-tracing features.
At the other end of the spectrum, the standard PS5 set to Quality Mode runs Crimson Desert at upscaled 4K resolution (from 1440p, FSR 3) at 30 FPS VSync with high ray-tracing features. The PS5 Pro version of this mode clocks in at 4K resolution at 30 FPS VSync and with ultra ray-tracing features enabled.
Crimson Desert’s narrative follows Greymanes Kliff, Oongka, Yann, and Naira, during a period where Pywel is experiencing great tension and conflict among its people. This already fragile period is disrupted further by an attack by the Black Bears, a rival faction to the Greymanes, killing many of its members. In the aftermath, Kliff and the survivors are scattered, and so it’s up to him to reunite with his comrades and rebuild the Greymanes, before confronting the Myurdin, the leader of the Black Bears.
Crimson Desert is scheduled to launch on March 19, 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
