Duckweed in Pokémon Pokopia is a decorative material that you’re going to need sooner or later if you’re hoping to attract the interests of Lotad, Ludicolo, or eventually, Dragonite. These ‘mons all have habitats that require Duckweed, but actually trying to find this resource will likely leave you stumped.
That’s because Duckweed can only be created using a powered-up ability, and there’s no way of crafting or gathering the stuff if found out in the wild sadly. To put your Duckweed woes to bed however, here’s exactly how to get Duckweed in Pokopia.

How to get Duckweed in Pokémon Pokopia
To get Duckweed in Pokopia, you need to use the powered-up Leafage ability on a block of water. This means spending some time learning how to cook in Pokopia and then eating copious amounts of Simple Salad.
Here’s the step-by-step process for getting Duckweed in Pokopia:
1. Learn to make Simple Salad
You will learn how to make Simple Salad – and cook in general – once you complete the first few Requests found in Rocky Ridges. This means finding Machoke, Scorbunny, and Dartrix in the area.
Machoke will allow you to move the Pokémon Center PC to its rightful place so you can kick off the next Requests, which involve finding Scorbunny (who helps with cooking food) and Dartrix (who knows a recipe we need for cooking food).
After learning the Cutting Board Recipe from Dartrix, you’ll need to craft one and place it by a stove (there’s conveniently one to the left of the Workbench near the Rocky Ridges PC).
Then, you’ll need to interact with the stove and input two ingredients – two leaves in this instance – to start cooking Simple Salad. Be sure to make a few of these if you can! Scorbunny will happily eat the first Simple Salad, and you can save the rest for yourself.
2. Power up the Leafage ability
With the Simple Salad now safely in your backpack, eat one! This will immediately power up your Leafage ability, allowing you to create new and different types of shrubbery depending on what terrain you’re using Leafage on.
3. Create Duckweed
If you use your powered up Leafage ability on blocks of water, it will then create Duckweed. Create four of these in a small square and you’ll have the ‘Uplifting Duckweed’ habitat, which is home to Lotad and Ludicolo.
Similarly, you can use Duckweed to create the Waterside Dinghy habitat, which is where Dragonite resides. Though, you won’t be able to do this until you reach the Sparkling Skylands area. Your powered up Leafage ability can also be used for creating Moss, which is used in a number of habitats that you can take a closer look at using our Habitat Dex.
One final thing to note is that Duckweed can only be placed. It cannot be gathered as a material and attempting to cut Duckweed will simply turn it into some leaves for you to collect. Duckweed’s only uses are for creating habitats and decorating your towns!
