The ability to jump in Pokémon Pokopia isn’t something you can do from the get-go as you build up your idyllic Pokémon paradise. Instead, much like other abilities and moves, you’ll need to befriend and help out a Pokémon – Magikarp in this instance – to unlock the ability to jump.
Being able to jump makes hopping up ledges and traversing your island that little bit easier, so it’s well worth spending some time unlocking this ability when possible. To help you out with that, here’s our guide on how to jump in Pokopia.

How to jump in Pokémon Pokopia
To be able to jump in Pokopia, you must create an ‘ocean fishing spot’ habitat for Magikarp after they request you to do so. Once you fulfill this request, you’ll immediately be taught how to jump by Magikarp.
You can create an ocean fishing spot habitat by placing the following items near Magikarp:
- 1x Ocean Water
- 1x Fishing Rod
- 1x Seat (any)
After successfully creating the ocean fishing spot habitat, speak to Magikarp again and he’ll teach you his best (and only) move, which is the ability to jump.
Following this, you’ll be able to press ‘R’ to jump, allowing you to quickly hop up small ledges and traverse your world much more easily.
