The Fun Pimps, the studio behind 7 Days to Die, has revealed that it has been acquired by Dead by Daylight studio Behaviour Interactive.
Speaking in a statement today, The Fun Pimps co-founder, Richard Huenink, revealed that 7 Days to Die has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, and the studio itself has grown to more than 70 people. However, he noted that The Fun Pimps has been looking for “the right partner” in order to achieve its future goals, something which is now possible thanks to the partnership with Behaviour Interactive.
Like The Fun Pimps, Behaviour are obsessed with horror. While they’re best known for Dead by Daylight, they also have Red Hook Studios‘ amazing Darkest Dungeon series. We’re honored to have 7 Days stand beside these two iconic horror franchises. We understand that some of you may have concerns about this change, but for us, this is about getting the support and resources needed to tackle our most ambitious ideas and deliver with a partner that looks forward as much as we do.
It’s not about handing over control or stepping away from what we built. We chose Behaviour because they believe in 7 Days—what the game can become and our team’s ability to realize that potential. They share our philosophies on everything from community to modding. So, in case you’re wondering, we’re not going anywhere.
He added that both companies are aligned on “building a home for the best horror games where titles like Dead by Daylight, Darkness Dungeon, and 7 Days To Die can stand side by side.” As a result, The Fun Pimps will now look to well its ranks including art, engineering, design, community, and support roles with Behaviour’s help to “make our vision for the future of 7 Days a reality.”
